Kunigami's Steak: Inspired by Blue Lock (gluten free)
Inspired by Blue Lock, I’m making Kunigami’s Steak Prize. A well deserved prize for scoring the most goals, Kunigami shares his delicious steak with Isagi. It’s a simple recipe/dish but the boys just absolutely love it! A juice steak slathered in an umami rich sauce, yum! Oh yeah, don’t forget the perfectly cooked veggies. I really enjoyed this anime and am definitely looking forward to season 2!

For the Steaks:
- 4 boneless rib steaks
- neutral flavoured oil for cooking I use canola
- salt
- ground black pepper
For the Sauce:
- Pan drippings
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 3 tsp worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 1/2 tsp granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- Splash of red wine optional but really delicious!
To Serve:
- Roasted or more anime accurate steamed veggies: A mix of potatoes, carrots, and asparagus. Chop the veggies into even chunks, spread on a baking tray, season with olive oil, salt and pepper, and roast until tender and the edges are brown and crisp. Easy as that!
Pat steaks dry and season both sides generously with salt and pepper
On medium-high heat, add a Tbsp of oil (per steak, so if you're cooking 2 at a time, use 2 Tbsp oil) to the cast-iron pan and let heat until near smoking. Carefully lower the steak (away from you) into the pan.
Let cook undisturbed for 3 minutes until the bottom is browned. Flip and repeat for about 2-4 minutes depending on the thickness of the steaks. Remove from heat a bit before you reach the desired doneness as the steaks will continue to cook slightly from the heat while resting.
Remove the steak from the pan but keep all the drippings (bits of goodness) stuck to the pan.
Add the sauce to the pan and simmer while mixing.
Once thickened, remove from heat to dress the steaks.
Plate up a steak, veggies, pour a generous portion of your sauce over the steaks. Enjoy!
