Today I’m making Butter Cookies, Inspired by WandaVision.

After seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, all the feels I had from WandaVision came rushing back and I knew I wanted to share this recipe with you.

I loved the show so much and I found the scene that inspired these cookies to be so emotional and powerful. I wanted to try and capture those feelings and create something sweet.

So here you go, beautiful butter cookies made with lots of love. The cookies are soft, sweet (but not too sweet), buttery, and have crispy edges. This recipe was adapted from the wonderful chef Yukiko Nakajima of Comeconoco Gluten-Free Laboratory & Cafe in Osaka, Japan.

You can decorate these cookies however you’d like, they are just a great cookie to have in your baking repertoire. They are simple to make, impressive to guests, and their taste and flavour are really satisfying to enjoy.

If you make this recipe, I would absolutely love to hear your feedback and would love to talk to you all some more so please leave a comment! Also, if you do make this recipe, I’d really love to see your creations so please tag me on Instagram.

Servings 12

Ingredients

  • 65 g unsalted butter softened
  • 45 g granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 egg yolk room temperature
  • 75 g rice flour I used thai rice flour
  • 25 g almond flour finely ground
  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch
  • Red edible marker

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (with convection). Line a baking tray with a silicone mat.
  • In a medium bowl, add the butter and mix it around to make sure it is soft. Add in the sugar and salt and mix until smooth.
  • Add the egg yolk, rice flour, almond flour, and cornstarch and mix until it comes together as a dough.
  • On a plastic wrap lined work surface, roll out the dough until it is about 5mm thick. Wrap in plastic and set in the fridge or freezer until firm.
  • Once firm, lightly dust the surface of the dough with cornstarch and using a cookie cutter (I used a heart), cut out your cookies. You can reroll the dough to get as many cookies as you can out of the dough.
  • Arrange the cookies on the baking mat and bake for about 10 minutes. The edges should be golden brown.
  • Let cool on the baking mat, the cookies will harden enough to separate without them breaking, be careful though, they can be delicate if they are on the thinner side.
  • Once cool, the cookies are ready to decorate! I decorated them to match the message Vision left on the deed to the house…
